This ring has been designed for a particular configuration: the fully screwed mounting of an Atik assembly (Atik 4000 camera, EFW2 filter wheel and OAG off-axis guider) on a Ritchey-Chrétien Kepler-GSO optical tube fitted with a Starlight Instruments Feather Touch 3" focusing system equipped with a M72 output thread. Although the ring may seem highly specialized, we decided to produce a series of them for astrophotographers wishing to convert an M72 thread to an M54 thread. With its useful 48 mm diameter clear aperture, it can prove useful for large sensor camera mounting on Ritchey-Chrétien type astrographs where mechanical backfocus is important. What's more, this ring makes it possible to mount using only standard threads, without having to buy exotic rings.
It's very important to calculate the total length of the assembly of accessories in order to scrupulously respect the backfocus requirements of your instrument ; mechanical backfocus is the distance between the last mechanical bearing surface of the instrument, a field corrector or a focal reducer and the surface of your sensor. If in doubt, don't hesitate to contact your Takahashi dealer.
Designed by our team and manufactured in France by our partner mechanical workshop in Colmar, a specialist in high-precision machining in small series, this ring is made of aluminum and anodized in matte black.
