Combining a high-quality telescope lens with a mediocre diagonal will only give you poor images. The optical chain is a whole in which no link should be neglected, at the risk of significantly degrading performance.
Takahashi understands this, and the famous Japanese manufacturer takes great care to integrate all the optical parts into its designs when conceiving its instruments and accessories. The aim is to bring the exceptional performance of its lenses into the focus plane, whatever the mounting used for visual or photographic purposes. Including when a 'simple' diagonal needs to be inserted to improve viewing comfort.
The Takahashi 2" mirror diagonal is a model of its kind. Takahashi uses the same technologies as for the secondary mirrors of its Epsilon telescopes: very high-precision polishing, high-reflectivity treatments and impeccable mechanics.
The mirror diagonal has a 106.5 mm metal backfocus length, to which may be added the 11 mm length of the 50.8 mm to 31.75 mm reducer (TKA00111) supplied as standard, giving a total of 117.5 mm. The 2" input barrel is equipped with an M48x0.75 female thread that accepts 50.8 mm mounted filters.
