Are you tired of inserting and removing your eyepieces from your diagonal? You have quality eyepieces and don't want to use a zoom to replace them all? The Takahashi 4-turret holder is for you.
The Takahashi turret must be inserted in the 2" (50.8 mm) barrel of your telescope. A built-in prism, above which a ratcheting revolver rotates, reflects the image at 90°. The turret has 4 outlets accepting eyepieces with 1.25" (31.75 mm) barrel, with Teflon ring clamp. A fluorescent dot shows you which eyepiece is in position.
The mechanical back distance (MBD) of the turret is 82 mm long. With the optional extension tube S [TKA00105], this is equivalent to the mechanical distance of the 50.8 mm Takahashi mirror diagonal [TKA00543] equipped with its 31.75 mm reducer [TKA00111], that is 117.5 mm. The use of this extension tube is essential to obtain the focus on the following instruments: FC-76DS, FSQ-85ED, FSQ-106ED, FSQ-130ED, Mewlon-250CRS and Mewlon-300CRS.
The turret is designed to be used with Takahashi eyepieces of the Abbe and LE series (except LE40 and LE50, with a 50.8 mm barrel). However, you can use other brands of eyepieces of equivalent size. Wide field eyepieces and heavy models are not recommended. Due to the position of the prism, it is imperative that the mechanical length of the 31.75mm barrel does not exceed 31 mm in length, including the additional filter. The assembly could come into contact with the prism and damage it.
