The LE range of eyepieces are the most versatile eyepieces at Takahashi. They cover a very wide focal length range, from 5 mm for planetary observation to 50 mm for deep sky observation on instruments with a long native focal length. The range is particularly suitable for telescopes with focal ratios between 7 and 10. The LE40mm and LE50mm models are rather intended for Takahashi Dall-Kirkham telescopes, such as Mewlons, especially those equipped with the CRS field corrector (Mewlon-250CRS and Mewlon-300CRS). Indeed, these 2 eyepieces have been optimised in order to offer a flat image even at the edge of the field when associated with this corrector.
LE eyepieces have an apparent field of view of 52° and their optical design consists of 5 lenses divided into 3 groups.
The LE5mm and LE7.5mm models have the particularity of having a removable 31.75mm barrel, offering a possible assembly to the old Japanese 24.5mm diameter. Models LE40mm and LE50mm have a 50.8 mm barrel.
